Today is a day of hope for Southern Sudanese everywhere - after a long struggle they can rejoice in their independence from Sudan - the Republic of South Sudan has been created.
The January 2011 referendum showed clearly the wish for independence of the South Sudanese people from the rest of Sudan. They will be building a brand new country from scratch.
